3-Step Productive Daily Routine

In need of a productive daily routine? Then you’ve come to the right place!

You know those days where you have a ton of stuff you need to do. Do you ever feel like there isn’t enough time to do it all, though? Enter your productive daily routine! Your productive daily routine is the schedule you’ll want to adhere to on days where you need to be your most productive self. There are three essential elements to a productive daily routine, which we’ll discuss below.

Before we dive in, please know that this routine can apply to work days and weekends. Remember that every routine can be tweaked to a specific day or situation!

STEPS FOR A PRODUCTIVE DAILY ROUTINE

1. You need to follow a productive morning routine.

Starting the day off on the right foot by having a productive morning is a surefire way to make sure the rest of the day follows suit. For example, if you know that showering first thing in the morning is what makes you feel your absolute best, then that is a must-do as part of your productive daily routine. Whatever you know sets you up for success becomes an automatic non-negotiable on these mornings. 2. You need to take care of your physical health.

While you should be tending to your physical health on a daily basis as it is, it’s especially important to do so on productive days. For many of us, being productive means getting a lot of “mental” work done. It might look like sitting down at our computers for hours on end. I think we tend to forget how horrible we can feel when we don’t move or fuel our bodies properly. Feeling sore and sluggish becomes somewhat normal, which isn’t good at all. So even if you plan to have a 10-hour work day, you still need to take care of yourself. Incorporate multiple stretching breaks, or block out some time for a gym session or walk around the block. Eat leftovers or the meals you prepped earlier in the week rather than ordering GrubHub for the millionth time that week. When our bodies feel better, our minds do too. It also means we can work more efficiently without experiencing burnout.

3. You need a checklist.

Checklists are the main tool I use to get through my busy days. They help to keep me on track and can always be tweaked when necessary. I love using my Notes app on my iPhone. Throughout the day, I pull up my Note to check off a task once it’s done.

When it comes to your productive daily routine, I recommend that you pick the top 3 things you want to complete that day. Why? If you complete these 3 tasks, you can say you were productive and that your day was a success, no matter what. The other 28 items on your list? They’re just a bonus if you get to any of them. Put the top 3 items at the beginning of your list so they’re top of mind and easy to access.

If this method doesn’t work for your particular situation, take your to-do list and break it up into two sections: “Musts” and “Nice-To-Haves.” When you divide your checklist up in this way, it quickly weeds out the items that can come second or be left behind for another day. Completing all your “must” tasks is a great way to ensure that you have a productive day.

FINAL THOUGHTS

When you follow these three steps, your productive daily routine will absolutely get you great results. What does your productive daily routine look like? Tell me all about it in the comments below!
